Threads of Time is a cultural journey and celebration of the mastery and diversity of artisan craftsmanship around the world through textiles. Each piece, made by hand using traditional techniques passed down through generations, tells of beliefs, history, marriage ceremonies, burial traditions, and even counting systems. Textiles were commonly used as a narrative for cultures without written language among often overlooked or forgotten people in remote regions around the world. These woven cloths, with meaning and purpose, tell the stories of whom these people are and why they are there.

The collection features a wide variety of styles, from the complex double ikat of Indonesia to the bold geometric patterns of Navajo (Diné) blankets. Each textile is a reflection of the culture, traditions, and natural regions of the people who made it.

The book Threads of Time: A Cultural Journey is beautifully illustrated with exquisite textiles and location photography—from archival images to extraordinary contemporary expressions—revealing a continuum of inspiration and beauty. Over 30 local voices and experts from different regions and communities around the world tell their stories and experiences.
